Police educate community on 16 Days of Activism
Kwatsaduza – To continue raising awareness of the 16 Days of Activism for no Violence against Women and Children, local police conducted a campaign in Tsakane and KwaThema.
The event took place on Thursday. The police went to public spaces to further educate the community on gender-based violence as well as observing World Aids Day.
In Tsakane the event started with a procession from the police station.
The police then moved to hot-spots in Tsakane Extension 10 and Ext 19.
“The purpose of the campaign was to educate the woman, children and men to speak up, and to encourage the perpetrators of abuse to seek help and not to resolve issues with violence.

“Congregations also joined in to pray for these social ills so they can come to an end.
“In both areas about 200 people were addressed and given pamphlets. Condom were also distributed,” says Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu.
From there the programme continued at the Tsakane Mall, where various stakeholders shared information with the community while faith groups prayed.
The procession then continued to KwaThema, where the attendance was also good.
“We want our communities to be aware of this campaign and to come forward and report cases of women and child abuse.
