Title deeds delivered to owners

Kwatsaduza – Residents from around Kwatsaduza gathered at the KwaThema Society Care for the Aged to received their title deeds last Friday.

The delivery was conducted by the Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Mzwandile Masina, along with the MMC for Human Settlement, Clr Lesiba Mpya. Speaker of Council, Clr Patricia Khumalo, plus Chief Whip of Council, Clr Jongizizwe Dlabathi, were among other local government officials and councillors.

In his address to the community, the mayor explains that a title deed is a letter of authority coming from them.

And having this document, means for the home owner that the house now officially belongs to them.

“When we took office on August 23, we made this a priority – to give out 11 000 title deeds to their rightful owners in our five years in term.

“Since then, this is the second event we’ve had giving residents these important documents – following our first stop in Tokoza recently.

“Therefore during this visit in KwaThema, 440 title deeds will be issued and for those people who aren’t present, officials will visit their homes to give them their title deeds.

“Please don’t take these title deeds to loan sharks, as they won’t feel for you when you are unable to pay them, but will just take your home,” he says.

Resident Mandla Msomi (49) of KwaThema White City, says he’s very happy to have received the title deed.

“I’ve been waiting for this document for a while – since 2010 – as this was my parents’ home.

“My father however, died in 1973, while my mother died in 1985,” he says.

Another recipient, Elda Bangani (74), says she’s also thrilled with getting this document after waiting since 1994.

“At least now I’ll sleep well, knowing all is in order with this house,” she says.
