900 packs of nyaope seized

Duduza - A tip-off and a month of surveillance has resulted in two men being arrested for possession of and dealing in drugs.

The men, aged 43 and 28, were arrested on Tuesday at about 7am, in the Zulu Section after being found with 900 packs of nyaope.

The street value of the drugs, according to the police, is estimated at R31 000.

“The packs were found at the home of one of the suspects while the second suspect also had some packets on him.

“There was also R4 500 found on the scene, which is suspected to be proceeds from these drugs,” says police spokesman Sgt Harry Manaka.

He adds that the arrest was a joint operation between the SAPS and the EMPD Tracing Unit.

The suspects will soon appear at the Nigel Magistrate’s Court for drug possession and dealing.

“This is the biggest nyaope bust we have made thus far, therefore we are hoping it will decrease the volume of drugs on the streets,” he says.
