This nomination is in recognition of his selfless service towards improving the lives of others.

In addition to this, it is for Xaba’s fight against the many injustices faced by young people, his advocacy of those who are weak and victimised and his active involvement in the eradication of poverty in his community in the past year.

“It is very overwhelming when people see the time and work you put in, trying to make a positive change in the community,” he says.

“For that reason, it is not about winning or losing, as just the acknowledgement that people see my work gives me the greatest feeling.”

Other activities and projects in which the young man is currently involved include:

• serving as the stakeholders chairman in KwaThema,

• being a member of the Gauteng Department of Education Stakeholders Management Forum,

• working as a member of the All Africa Council of Churches,

• serving on many boards as an advisor,

• managing the Thabang Xaba Foundation, which is a movement that aims to inspire young people for greatness,

• helping the Inkazimulo Yokulunga Centre for Orphans, which feeds more than 500 children daily.

“I believe that it is my responsibility to continue making a difference in every way possible, restoring hope and transforming the lives of those in my community,” he says.
