Tsakane – Local boxer Nhlanhla ''The Legend'' Mtshali (13) recently participated in a tournament in Durban, after he and 10 other boxers were selected to represent the Ekurhuleni region.

The Legend went as far as being awarded the Best Male Boxer of the Day accolade and accepting a medal and trophy during the tournament.

He says he owes his successes to his coach, Charles Mtshali, who worked tirelessly to prepare him for the tournament.

“I’m very serious about boxing; receiving the award during the tournament was like a dream come true, it’s validation that I have the skill and potential to be one of the best,” says the young lad.

Mtshali, from Bigger Walker Boxing Club, in Tsakane, expresses his joy, saying he is extremely proud of his boxer, who has made his club and province proud by displaying excellent boxing skills during the tournament.

“It is my prayer to see local boxers excel and do well during tournaments, and also for us, as coaches, to support and encourage young boxers to take the sport seriously going forward.

“We also thank all our sponsors, who make it possible for boxers to attend tournaments, because some of our boxers come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“I believe children should be developed through school and sports, so they may grow into well rounded adults in future,” he adds.
