Woman gets hijacked in KwaThema

KwaThema – On Friday, at around 8.30pm, a woman driving an Audi A1, was hijacked at the corner of Mthethwa and Selekane streets in the Vergenoeg area.

According to Capt Thabo Sibuyi, the complainant stopped at an intersection and noticed a vehicle in front of her.

“While there, the driver of the vehicle facing the woman’s car kept flickering their headlights at her.

“From there four men approached the woman, one suspect had a pistol in his hand while another had a shot gun which they pointed at her,” says Sibuyi.

During this an unsuspecting passerby who knows the woman greeted her and the angered suspects grabbed him, forced him into the woman’s car and drove off.

“The suspects forced the two to keep their heads down, and covered their faces with a cloth so they could not see where they were going.

“They were then taken to a building, thrown onto a bed were their hands were tied and they were covered with a blanket.

“Suspects asked the woman if her car has a tracking device and though her response was no, as the suspects walked away she heard one saying he’d found it,” adds Sibuyi.

A few minutes later the man and woman were taken back to the vehicle and driven to a gravel road and taken out of the car.

The victims, whose faces were covered with cloths, were helped by police in a vehicle that was passing near the area and the matter was reported to the KwaThema Police Station.

Police are investigating a case of hijacking.
