Movement to help with relationship problems

KwaThema - The Caswell Stop Abuse Movement (CSAM) has gone back to basics as its members try to raise the problem of divorce and abuse in the community.

The movement has identified the core problem of so many people ending up filing for divorce or turning into punching bags after years of marriage.

Founder of CSAM, Caswell Gxowa (50) says marriage is a beautiful union that two people embark on and should never result in divorce.

He further states that people often get into a relationship and later marriage for the wrong reasons and therefore find themselves victims of abuse or getting divorced.

“So we as a movement that seeks to minimise and eradicate the abuse of women and men in the community have taken it upon ourselves to engage with the community and educate them about marriage and relationships.

“My colleagues and I are undergoing counselling training so we may counsel couples before marriage and couples who are facing martial problems before it leads to a much bigger problem,” he explains.

Working closely with victims of abuse and divorce, CSAM wants to rehabilitate them through spiritual guidance.

Gxowa says many young people are making reckless decisions when it comes to relationships, which is costing them a lot in life. Through their couple counselling they will be able to equip young people with the tools to maintain a healthy and abuse-free relationship.

“All we want to do is prevent the problem as opposed to rallying to stop abuse and divorce in the community,” he adds.
