Ximba publishes his first book

KwaThema - Local motivational speaker Innocent Ximba (20) has branched out from giving inspirational talks to becoming an author, something he is very proud of.

“After two years my first book is finally out,” he says.

Though the book, titled ‘Born Slayer Never Give Up’, has given him some sleepless nights, Ximba says it’s all been worth it.

“I initially started writing the book two years ago, but as I was about to complete it my laptop crashed.

“This was around June 2014, after the passing of my aunt Setshabeng Eleanor Namane, who inspired me to write it.

“My aunt believed in me from an early age and the talent I did not see then, hence I kept pushing,” he explains.

But deep down, the setback did make Ximba think this was not meant to be.

Last year, however, he took a leap of faith and started afresh.

But as he made it to the middle of the book, his laptop crashed again.

“At that time I learnt the hard way that I had to save my work on an external drive,” he laughs.

“I almost quit, but my aunt came to mind so I soldiered on until I finally complete the book this year.

“When I finally accomplished my goal, I reached another stumbling block as I was unable to publish as I was broke,” he says.

So Ximba turned to what he knows best: he carried on with his seminars, which he says helped to keep the dream alive.

“When I preached to others it was like I was preaching to myself, so I carried on.

“Thanks to my family’s love and support, the book is now finally out,” he shares.

The young man says when the book was finally published, it was an awkward and overwhelming feeling.

“When the went to collect the books, I had to take a moment to pray and thank God while I stood at the printers,” he confesses.

And it was only about two weeks ago, when he was having a conversation with someone about it, that it finally dawned on him that he is now an author.

“The core essence of the book is all about success and God’s says about it, his values and principles on it.

“Through the journey of writing this I had a lot of introspection and God answered me as to why a lot of us are not successful and how we can reach our desired success,” he says.

Ximba adds that some of these answers came as visions and thoughts while for other parts he had to research and seek guidance from spiritual leaders, as some things he himself did not understand.

“I am proud of the final product and my team and I have started touring schools and churches promoting the book.

“Response has been good though we haven’t received many reviews on it.

“So I would love to get some feedback on the content of the book, as I’ve never written something like this.

“I believe the feedback will help me grow and assist me in polishing my craft, as it’s not easy critiquing yourself,” he says.

Ximba encourages locals to get the book, which he believes will make for an interesting read.

Those who are interested in the book can contact 074 069 0743.

“The book will officially be launched next year as I don’t want to launch something people don’t know about.

“I would love to have an open dialogue with people who will attend the launch, which is why I am not rushing it,” he says.
