According to local police, the incident took place last Saturday at about 7.30am.
KwaThema police spokesman, W/O David Mphali says police who were patrolling the area, noticed a car parked next to the road at the corner of Kgaswane and Zamani streets.
When they went to check on it, a young man in the car who noticed that someone was coming, jumped from the back to the driver’s seat.
“Seeing that it was the police, the suspect came out of the vehicle with his trousers unzipped.
“Upon further investigation, police saw a girl at the back seat, who was still wearing her pajamas.
“It is believed the suspect was allegedly kissing and touching the child when the police spotted the vehicle,” says Mphali.
The young man was arrested on the spot for kidnapping and sexual assault and further investigations are being conducted on the matter.
