Orphanage gets spoilt for Mandela Day
Geluksdal – House of Virtue Church from KwaThema put smiles on the faces of children at the Lethu’kukhanya Care Centre in Tsakane on Saturday.
The church donated clothes, blankets and food parcels and treated the children to a braai for lunch.
Church members came in their numbers to commemorate Mandela Day by sharing their time with the children.
Nthabiseng Diphoko (37), co-ordinator of the project, says as a church they wanted to adopt a home where they can offer their assistance.
“It so happened that Simphiwe Mnisi, the centre manager, is a member of our congregation and she introduced the children to the church and we wanted to adopt them as our own.
“Our late pastor instilled the principle of giving back to the less privileged and it is important for us as a church to do our bit to ensure underprivileged children in the community are taken care of,” says Diphoko.
Mnisi says she is overwhelmed by the church’s commitment to adopt the centre and help with donations and taking care of the children.
“I’m still speechless and overwhelmed by the commitment my church has made towards the children at the centre. Moreover, I’m happy they gave of their best to the children.
“The children received brand-new clothes of good quality and members really devoted the entire day to the children,” she says.
