The vehicle was recovered later on the same day, in Daveyton.
EMPD spokesman Wilfred Kgasago says although the vehicle was found abandoned, at around 4pm, at the intersection of Selema and Lekeno streets, in Sgodi Phola, the stolen flat screen television sets, cellphones and jewellery were not found inside it.
“The EMPD officer who was alerted by the tracking company, about the movements of the stolen Corsa, found its bonnet still hot, indicating that the vehicle had been recently abandoned.
“A thorough search of the area for the culprits, however, yielded no results.
“The vehicle was towed to the SAPS Van Ryn pound in Benoni,” says Kgasago.
A case of armed robbery and theft of vehicle was registered at the Benoni Police Station.
Police investigations have since been initiated in an effort to apprehend the persons responsible for the crime.
