Community asked for support

Kwatsaduza - On July 23 and 24, there will be a Local Football Association top four u/13 squads tournament.

These games will be played at the Duduza Stadium.

Regional technical officer of SAFA Ekurhuleni, coach Innocent Mayoyo explains that on day one, from 9.30am there will be six matches, where they will use a point system and each team will play three games.

Then on the second day, the u/13 number three and four teams will compete from 9am.

Afterwards at 11am and 1pm there will be two games where the Kwatsaduza selected team will play against the Highland Park MDC.

“These will be trials and a talent exposure for our senior boys as it will be an opportunity for them to be assessed for a premier league team.

“It is however important, for boys to know that these are not open trials but call-ups,” he says.

Mayoyo adds that the second day will also serve as a chance to add more boys to the Keyona squad.

“We will just add onto those boys as we need about 30 in total.

“As the programme proceeds further, at 2.45pm on day two there will be certification of all local coaches who have done their national D licence and all the workshop attendees of the coaches’ workshop.

“However, only the coaches who attended and paid for workshops and the national licence will be certified,” he says.

Then at 3.30pm the final of the u/13 will take place and the winners of the tournament will represent Kwatsaduza at the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Cup to take place from October 1 to 8.

This initiative will be aimed at reviving football and bringing opportunities to local players.

“We are asking for the parents and community to support this,” says Mayoyo.
