Duo appears for kidnapping and murder

KwaThema – Two men, aged 30 and 62, made a brief appearance in the Springs Regional Court, following their alleged involvement in the kidnapping and murder of Joshua Mphatswe Mokoena.

The court case took place on June 30, when both the men appeared on charges of kidnapping and murder.

The matter was, however, remanded to July 14.

The 62-year-old man was arrested on June 9, in Hlabangwane Street and was granted bail on June 13. The 30-year-old suspect was caught on June 28, along Khumalo Street, and made bail the following day.

The arrests were made following the death of the 32-year-old Mokoena, who died after allegedly being kidnapped on June 6, by a group of about five unknown men, from a house in Mohlala Street, in Phomolo Section.

He was later found, having been assaulted and with stab wounds to his head.

He died later that evening, in the Pholosong Hospital.

Three other suspects are still at large.
