Ckenz Voucal is KwaThema’s gem

Ckenz Voucal (real name Khensane Khoza) is a vocalist from KwaThema who has an impressive resumé and high hopes for the music business.

His journey dates back to his high school years, when he played the trumpet in his school band.

Being an instrumentalist later led him to explore his singing capabilities, which earned him membership of the The Layders, as their lead vocalist.

As he gained experience he diversified from RnB, jazz and afro pop, and harnessed his own, unique sound.

The success of the group’s single, Smiling with the sun, in 2009, grabbed the attention of prominent house label Soul Candi, who signed The Layders.

Being part of Soul Candi, Ckenz was fortunate enough to work with big names such as Jullian Gomes and Swiss house duo BBK Crew, which led to tours in Switzerland.

While accomplishing all these milestones, Ckenz Voucal began to blaze a trail of chart topping songs with various producers.

These songs helped him to fine tune his sound and to establish himself as a new solo star.

His collaboration with Mr O and Funk Deep Star on Got this feeling, a song which made it on major radio stations, made him one of the artists to look out for.

His 2016 offering, The Gobbs, has been featured on Metro Fm recently, and he also dropped his latest single, Naba labantwana, for free download, which is doing well, drawing 17 000 downloads and growing.

Ckenz is currently finishing his solo album, which will be titled The C is silent, and on which he plans to work with different producers.
