The incident occurred at about 5.45pm last Tuesday, at Makenta Street when eight armed men entered the store and demanded cash from the staff.
“The armed suspects ordered the staff members at the supermarket to lie down on the ground.
“They searched them and took four cellphones and a sum of R500 from one of the employees.
“Thereafter the crew demanded the money that was in the tills and they proceeded to take R4 722 in cash and cigarettes worth about R16 000 then fled,” says police spokesman W/O David Mphali.
He adds that the suspects fled off in a white Avanza though the registration number is unknown.
