Foundation donates to school

KwaThema – Forty pairs of shoes were donated to learners of Umsobomvu Primary School in KwaThema.

The Cool Dad’s Foundation donated the shoes after its school-shoe drive which it hosted two weeks ago.

Fifteen schools from around Kwatsaduza and Daveyton will benefit from all the proceeds made during the school-shoe drive.

Marketing and communications officer of the foundation Thabang Mokoena said they started the distribution of the shoes in other schools on March 14.

They also came to Umsobomvu to celebrate the birthday of the foundation’s founder, Bongani Luvalo, who was a former learner at the school and has a close relationship with it, making donations annually.

“Last year when we came to donate school shoes we promised to celebrate Luvalo’s birthday with Grade One learners,” explained Mokoena.

The foundation also brought cake and party packs for the recipients of the school shoes.

School principal Caroline Mota said she was honoured that the foundation had shown so much commitment and care towards the learners at the school.

She explained that most of the learners came from poverty-stricken areas of the community and child-headed families.

“It gives us joy as educators to see that young people are taking a stand and ploughing back into the community.

“This is a good principle to teach learners not to forget to help those who are less privileged once they succeed in life. It reinforces the spirit of ubuntu,” said Mota.
