Ayoba win replay match against Alex United

KwaThema - Alex United took on Ace Auto Ayoba in an SAB League rematch that was played at the KwaThema Stadium on Sunday.

The home team supporters did not disappoint as they were present to show their support as the match began.

When the game kicked off it was already war, as Sizwe Magugu of United managed to sweep in a goal in the first few minutes of the game, shaking the confidence of Ayoba players.

As the game progressed, the home team regained its focus, forcing United to tighten defence as Ayoba boys were ready to make their mark.

However, the home side missed out on about four crucial shots that could have seen them equalise or creep into the lead.

As the first half drew to a close, Alex put on additional pressure with more attacks to try extend its lead.

Ayoba also worked towards equalising but its efforts were fruitless as small mistakes cost it the first half.

Supporters were still nervous of what was to come as the second half began, but it seemed to be a different ball game for the home side as it looked more at ease and as though it had recovered the from the blow in the first half.

The marvellous touch of Mduduzi Methula saw him sneak in an equalising goal in about the second minute into this half.

This lifted Ayoba‘s spirits and soon after that Samuel Makofane missed out on a chance that could have put Ayoba in the lead.

Within 20 minutes Methula again put it into the net, his second goal that cemented the lead possession of his team.

As Alex tried to attack more in the hopes of getting a draw, the home side tightened its defence, which forced them to push the ball forward.

Both goalkeepers were kept on their toes in the last 10 minutes as the game became heated, with both teams sticking for more goals.

The two benches remained on their feet for the nail-biting finish but in the end it was Ayoba that walked away with three points in the bag.
