RDP crowned Top 8 champs

Kwatsaduza - RDP has proved to be unstoppable as it walked way with a 2-1 win in its match against World Xl on Sunday.

This comes after the two sides battled it out in a final match of the Tsamaya Masters Social Football League Super Eight games that were played at the Tlakula Grounds in KwaThema.

The ground was flooded with local supporters who had gone to see who would come out on top.

As the match began it seemed as though both the teams were playing at an equal pace, with both sides striking for goals and working hard in defending any possible shot taken on target.

But as time went on, the RDP players seemed have more composure on the field as their ball control seemed to flow more.

The World Xl bench and supporters, however, were not happy as they felt that the referee was costing them the game, with fouls piling up and no judgement made against the opposition.

Both sides held tight in the first half, leaving the scoreboard goalless at half-time.

In the second half, though, World Xl pushed to score to take the lead. Some minor mistakes and the defence of RDP made this impossible.

As supporters started talks on what could possibly happen if this game were to end in a draw, 20 minutes into the second half saw Bheki Mahlangu of RDP score the opening goal of the match.

For a moment the home team could breathe a sigh of relief, but World X1 were not having any of that as a few minutes later Gazz Mbangeni missed an opportunity to equalise.

As RPD players knew they needed to extend their lead before any mistakes could happen, team captain Jacky Maseko scored the second goal 10 minutes after Mahlangu’s goal.

World Xl started to lose confidence, but luckily Sphiwe Sibisi was awarded a chance to take a penalty shot and score a goal for his team.

This ended the match at a 2-1 score, leaving RDP to win the Tsamaya Masters Social Football League Super Eight games.
