Young man on the move

Tsalane modelling school and agency owner Percy Mohale says his passion for grooming young women and men into future models and pageant queens and kings is what gives him great joy.

Now he has diverted his passion into digital television, partnering with Africa TV, which will be broadcasting his work and the advice he will be giving to aspirant models.

“I started my modelling school because I saw great talent in the township, but the issue was the young people didn’t know how to get into the industry, which is very hostile,” says Percy.

Being a former model himself, he received intense training in modelling coaching through attending workshops across the country and in Germany.

His school, which has 37 models, helps to groom the young people, develop their personalities and educate them on the importance of branding and etiquette.

“For them to thrive in the industry, they need to learn basic skills that are required for them to succeed in this highly competitive industry.

“But more importantly, they need to build themselves through the exposure they will get by winning pageants and modelling competitions,” he says.

Currently he is busy coordinating an event for Human Rights Day for local designers to come showcase their designs.

“After many awards and pageants that my students have won, I’m still humbled by the amount of support I get from the parents who send their children for classes every day,” says Percy.

This year he will afford 10 young people who want to pursue a career in the modelling industry an opportunity to be a part of the Sweet Models SA.

Modelling classes are available from Monday to Saturday from 9am until 6pm at Nthabiseng Complex, Koni Street, Tsakane.
