Nine babies born on February 29

Tsakane – It was no ordinary day on February 29, when the staff of Phosolong Hospital welcomed nine newborn leap year babies, which they couldn’t be happier about.

The mothers say they are also pleased that they delivered on this day, though the challenge will be to select a day when their infants will celebrate their birthdays in future.

In total, six boys and three girls were delivered throughout the day.

Grace Serepa delivered the first baby girl of the day, who weighed 1 550g.

She was followed by Thandeka Sibanyoni, who gave birth to a baby boy weighing 2 100g.

Zamile Xaba gave birth to the third leap year baby at the hospital, a boy who weighed 3 200g, while Daisy Moagi welcomed her baby boy, who weighed in at 2 800g, into the world.

The baby girl of mother Julia Makhubo was welcomed by staff. She weighed 3 540g.

She was then followed by Nompumelelo Mzamo, who delivered a 2 780g baby boy.

Gugu Mkhwebane welcomed a baby boy, whose birth weight registered 2 700g.

Justin Putsoa followed with a baby girl of 3 900g.

The last baby of the day was delivered by Patritia Msikiti, and he made his appearance weighing only 630g.

The management of Pholosong Hospital congratulates the new mothers and wishes them all well.
