Joe delivers donations

Joe Modubu (36) who held a 'Fill up the cabby' initiative on Saturday for underprivileged children has delivered the food that was donated to a KwaThema school.

The event which was aimed at filling Joe’s Volkswagen bakkie with perishable food was held in Selection Park, Springs on Saturday, with music and a TV crew present.

Joe had heard learner’s in some Kwatsaduza schools only eat one meal a day and he had the idea to collect food to help feed these children.

A local business allowed Joe to use their premises for the charity event and Joe was pleased with the turn out and the amount of tinned goods he received.

After the success of the ‘Fill up the caddy’, Joe says he will definitely be doing the same sort of event annually.

“I want to help where I can, for as long as I can,” says Joe.

Joe delivered the food to Fred Habedi Primary School in Kwa-Thema and Reedville Clinic on Wednesday.

Dorcas Madi, principle at the Fred Habedi school says, ” We would like to pass on our sincere gratitude to Joe for the donations, this is going to make a real difference to the learners at our school.”

The remaining donations will be going to various places in Duduza today, says Joe.
