Uniting mothers and daughters

KwaThema – In the spirit of rebuilding and restoring the relationships of women, the Jehovah Rapha Ministries, hosted its Mothers and Daughters Annual Conference at the KwaThema Old Age Home recently.

During the conference the women were given words of encouragement on how to be better mothers and daughter.

The women also engaged in praise and worship.

Hosted by prophet Nono Thusi-Gumede, the conference was aimed at restoring and improving the mother and daughter relationship and bringing salvation and healing to those who lack maternal warmth and forgiveness.

It further seeks to help trapped mothers who have distanced themselves from their children.

“In 1998, God gave me a vision of restoring and improving the relationships of mothers and daughters, and bringing healing to women of all kinds.

“And since this mission has started, we have never looked back, because there is a need for us to have healthy relationships and through that, we hope that this will reduce issues of girls selling their bodies, using drugs and seeking attention from older men.

“We allow our daughters to grow with anger and wounds, but this cannot go on, therefore we need to promote better relationships and I know we can get along through Christ,” says Thusi-Gumede

She adds that it is important for women, especially young girls, to be taught to know themselves, what they want and to have dreams.

One of the speakers on the day, radio personality Thami Ngubeni, shared the story of her relationship with her mother while growing up.

She says her mother was very strict and at times they did not get along.

However, only when she matured, was she able to appreciate her mother and all she had done for her family.

“Despite a divorce, my mother loved, sacrificed for us and always gave us her best.

“If you are a mother, your children might not get along with you now, but don’t lose hope as they might change and appreciate you later.

“As mothers let us not burden our children with adult issues we are going through, if you are going through stuff, they don’t need the full details, instead find other women who can help you,” adds Ngubeni.

She encourages women to help each other in raising children, as it is still the work of a community to raise a child.

“Mothers and young women know who you are, what you want in life and your role in the family.

“And as mothers, let us serve, obey and trust in God,” she says.
