Nyaope dealer arrested

Duduza - A 27-year-old man was arrested on Monday by members of the Duduza SAPS for selling drugs.

According to Duduza police spokesperson, W/O Imtiaz Yakub Rasool, the police conducted the arrest of the unsuspecting dealer at about 11am and confiscated 54 sachets of nyaope, with an estimated street value of R1 600, along with cash of R800.

This was after they received information from the community and then monitored the suspect at his residence for a few days.

“A case of dealing in drugs has been opened at the Duduza Police Station and the suspect was charged and appeared in the Nigel Regional Court on Tuesday, but the case was remanded for further investigation.

“Station commander of Duduza SAPS, Lieut-Col Louise Droskie, has expressed her praise to the arresting officers, Sgt Tshepo Phuthuma and Const Harry Manaka, for their professional and thorough investigation in securing the arrest and seizure.

“She further adds that this arrest must serve as a warning to would-be drug dealers that they will be arrested and prosecuted,” says Rasool.

He adds that the station commander says this success is in line with the national and provincial strategies of the SA Police Services.
