Woman’s lifeless body discovered

Springs – The body of a woman was discovered next to the R555 Road between Springs and Etwatwa on Friday.

According to Springs police spokesperson, Capt Johannes Ramphora, the body was found by two men at about 6.50am.

A man on his way to work first noticed a blanket in an open area near the road and could see it was covering something.

He was then joined by another man, and together they lifted the blanket and saw human legs.

The men then called Etwatwa police.

“The police from Etwatwa arrived first and found the lifeless body of a female, who was naked, full of bruises and had an open wound to her head.

“When Springs police arrived, the Etwatwa police had already opened the case docket,” says Ramphora.

He adds that the woman’s identity is unknown and she is believed to be in her late 20s or early 30s.

While the woman had numerous bruises, the blood stains on the ground did not correspond with her injuries and police suspect she was killed at a different location and her body was dumped.

Police urge anyone with information to contact 10 111.

A case of murder has been opened at the Springs Police Station and no arrests have been made.
