Disabled community members receive wheelchairs

Daveyton – Last Friday the Daveyton Community Policing Forum (CPF) donated 50 wheelchairs to disabled community members.

The handing over of the wheelchairs took place at the Impala Hall in the Daveyton Police Station.

According to the CPF chairperson, Ramoitheki Madikgetla, many disabled community members are forgotten about and not well taken care of, and as an organization that serves the community, the CPF opted to assist community members who needed wheelchairs.

“We are very happy that we managed to put a smile on the faces of our community and to show that we have not forgotten the disabled,” says Madikgetla.

Wheelchair recipients were identified by CPF members.

Maria Nhlapo (60), one of the recipients, says the generous donation will make a huge difference in her life as she will now be more mobile around her home and the community.

“I didn’t own a wheelchair before and it will help me to move around so I am able to go to church and the clinic without having to hire transportation every time I want to go to nearby places within my community,” says Nhlapo.
