Community urged to exercise

Daveyton - Sbusiso Zwane (30), is the founder of Aerothon, which is a fitness programme he started to get the community into the habit of exercising and living a quality life.

He explains that Aerothon is different from regular aerobics and physical training because it strengthens the heart more than anything.

“When people join my sessions, I tell them it is about the heart more than the body, we first get the heart strong then we move to other body parts,” says Zwane.

He adds that the heart is the most important organ in the body and it needs to be taken care of well.

Zwane says he has always had a passion for fitness and training, and over the years it has grown immensely, probing him to want to educate his community about fitness and health.

“In the black community, health and fitness isn’t taken seriously until someone is extremely sick and is told by doctors to change their lifestyle, only then will they exercise and eat healthy.

“With Aerothon I want to change the way people view fitness and health, to see it as a way of taking care of your internal organs, rather than focusing on the outside body,” says Zwane.

He holds sessions Monday to Friday at Kenneth Masekela Secondary in KwaThema from 6pm to 8pm.

All are welcome.
