The girl’s body was found in the same street as her parent’s house.
Her parents were immediately informed when the man who discovered the body rushed to their house.
According to one of the girl’s friends, they went to a tavern in the Kwazenzele Informal Settlement on Saturday.
“At around 2am, the victim told her friend that she was tired and wanted to go home and sleep over at her friend’s residence,” says spokesman for the Springs police, Captain Johannes Ramphora.
He adds that when her friends went looking for her, she was nowhere to be found.
“The cause of death is unknown at this stage,” Ramphora concludes.
