Man arrested for attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm

Tsakane – A woman was shot by her 28-year-old boyfriend in Langaville on Monday.

The incident took place at about midnight at an address in Extension Five.

Tsakane police spokesman, Capt Petros Mabuza, says it is believed the couple had been arguing.

The man pulled out a firearm and shot his girlfriend in the lower body.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene and the woman was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Mabuza says the boyfriend was arrested and the firearm was recovered.

The weapon’s serial number had been filed off.

A case of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition was opened at the Tsakane Police Station, and the suspect will appear in the Tsakane Magistrate Court soon.
