KwaThema Old Age Home takes trophy

KwaThema - The KwaThema Old Age Home choir won first place at the Ekurhuleni Old Age Choir Competition held in Kempton Park last Friday, where 12 choirs from around Ekurhuleni competed.

The local choir has been competing in choral competitions since 1995 and has won numerous accolades.

It has been six years since they last won a trophy for their singing capabilities.

Centre manager, Monica Kgoloane (52), expressed her gratitude to the senior citizens who always put so much effort into perfecting their performance and showing commitment to the choir.

“It gives me so much joy to see our elderly people do well in competitions, it motivates us to introduce more activities that will keep our senior citizens active and productive in our community,” says Kgoloane.

Themba Nkambule (62), the choir’s conductor, says he is happy about the outcome of the competition and hopes the choir will continue to grow so they may receive more trophies.

“I’m proud to be a member of this choir where all the members are dedicated and show enthusiasm in singing and entertaining audiences,” says Nkambule.
