Rea Shomu Men’s Burial Society donates

KwaThema - Rea Shomu Men's Burial Society donated groceries and blankets to Christina Mbatha (74) on Saturday in celebration of her birthday later this month.

Mbatha’s son was a member of the society before he died and since then members of the club have taken care of her.

According to the secretary of the club, Steward Zulu (52), gogo Mbatha continued to be a member of the burial society even after her sons death and continued paying the monthly fees.

“We wanted to show her that we appreciate her efforts of wanting to be a part of our burial society, even though she can’t be present for our monthly meetings,” says Zulu.

Mbatha expressed her gratitude for the gesture.

“I’m so overwhelmed by the care these men have shown me since my son died, they have been doing good for my family and I,” says Mbatha.

She adds that this surprise will make her upcoming 75th birthday extra special.
