Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the woman was arrested after her partner was found dead in his shack at around midnight.
He says the couple had an argument which led to the woman grabbing the 47-year-old man and allegedly squeezing his genitals.
“When police arrived on the scene, the man was already dead,” says Ramphora.
The man’s cause of death is not known and police are awaiting the results of a post mortem.
According to Ramphora, angry community members were threatening to assault the woman and she was rescued by police from the angry mob.
The woman appeared in the Springs Magistrate Court on Monday and the case was postponed to September 1.
