Children share in supermarket’s birthday festivities
Tsakane - A local supermarket in Extension Eleven celebrated its 36th birthday by donating food hampers to Nkumbulo Edu Care Crèche in Tsakane on Wednesday.
August marks the birthday month of the supermarket and the store manager, Thami Mahlangu (38), wanted to give back to the community of Extension 11.
He explains he chose the crèche, which has been operating since 1996, because it is close to the supermarket.
“We wanted to do something memorable for the children and the crèche, instead of just donating money we wanted to celebrate with them,” says Mahlangu.
Crèche principal Patricia Mbeje (51) says they are overwhelmed by the gesture and hopes the supermarket will continue to support them with other projects.
“We are happy that of all the crèches in the area, we were chosen as the recipients of the food hampers. The hampers will help us with the our monthly groceries,” she says.
Children also received party packs and cake.
Mahlangu added they will continue to work with the crèche through other projects and charity work.
