The band has been together since 2009 and have performed on several stages including the Springs Theatre and Soweto Theatre.

“It is a good time for us to debut an album now, because we have a lot of material that we have been working on for the past few years,” says Matanga.

Blue Gum Jazz has eight members that play different instruments and bring their different musical experiences to the band.

Mathapelo Rantho (29), the vocalist, says that she enjoys working with her band mates because they all have a different understanding of music and when they put together all their ideas, good music is made.

“We all learn a lot from each other and we enjoy working on songs together,” says Rantho.
