The history of KwaThema penned
KwaThema - Local author Tshepho Mmolawa (23) hopes to share the history of KwaThema with residents through his new book.
Mmolawa, who has written and published a number of motivational books in the past, is planning to partner with the City of Ekurhuleni to publish his latest offering.
He explains his urge to write about the township in which he grew up, came about after he realised that many young people don’t know the history of the township.
“Most people don’t know the origins of the township and it is of importance that we know the history,” says Mmolawa.
In the book, Mmolawa explains the many factors that contributed to the KwaThema township and the heroes that made KwaThema what it is today.
Mmolawa also included famous soccer stars and musicians from KwaThema so young people may be inspired.
He gives credit to the elders of the community who shared the many historical happenings that took place during the making of the township.
Mmolwa says he doesn’t want the book to be sold but distributed to residents of KwaThema, so every household may have a copy.
“My aim for writing this book was for every household to have a copy so the history of the township is accessible to everyone,” say Mmolawa.
The book will be available in November for residents of KwaThema.
