No cases will be withdrawn at Duduza police station

Duduza - The station commander of the Duduza Police Station, Lieut Col Louise Droskie, has issued an instruction for cases not to be withdrawn at the station in future.

According to Duduza police spokesman WO Yakub Rasool, police have noticed an increase in the withdrawal of rape and assault cases.

He says victims report the incidents and a few days later return to the police station to withdraw the charges, claiming to have resolved the matter.

“This affects the police station’s performance as the resources are being misused by the alleged victims,” says Rasool.

He warns the community that future cases will not be withdrawn and all will be investigated and the necessary arrests made.

Victims will have to plead with the court and convince the magistrate to withdraw the case.
