Police investigate two attempted murder cases in Everest

Everest - A man was shot in the chest by three unknown suspects in Gugulethu/Everest Informal Settlement on Sunday.

According to the Springs police spokesman, Captain Johannes Ramphora, the suspect was on his way to a stokvel with his sister at around 4am when they were approached by three armed suspects.

He says one of the suspects took out a firearm and shot the victim before forcing his sister to go with them to her boyfriend’s shack.

Ramphora continues to say that the suspects knocked on the boyfreind’s door and when he opened it, they shot him in the face and fled the scene.

Both victims were taken to Far East Rand Hospital for treatment.

The motive for the shootings is still unknown.

No arrest has been made and the police are investigating two cases of attempted murder.
