Police warn about hijacking

Police warn motorists to be more vigilant when waiting at a red robot next to the Payneville Clinic.

Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora says two hijacking and two attempted hijacking cases which took place there have been reported to the police within two months.

He says the armed hijackers allegedly act when the car is stationery, waiting for the robot to turn green.

Adding that all the reported cases took place between 6pm and 9.30pm.

Ramphora says there are between two and four hijackers working together.

The police are investigating two cases of attempted hijacking and two of hijacking.
