Senior citizens celebrate Mandela Day

Tsakane - Senior citizens at the Tsakane Old Age Home celebrated Mandela Day on Friday, July 17.

The Tsakane Old Age Home was visited by different companies’ employees, members of the Fear Free Life organisation and local businesses.

The visitors cleaned the windows of the homes, planted vegetables in the home gardens and fed and shaved the elderly.

The elderly were treated to lunch and cake to celebrate Madiba’s birthday.

The cake was sponsored by a supermarket in Tsakane.

The senior citizens also received new blankets.

Speaking on behalf of the visitors, Mduduzi Madonsela said they wanted to spend their 67 minutes bringing about a positive change in the lives of the elderly.

He promised that they will visit the home again and hopes to maintain a strong relationship with the Tsakane Old Age Home.

“We believe in building relationships with the public and keeping them happy at all times,” said Madonsela.

Home manager, Phoko Makhubung thanked the local businesses and individuals for their support.
