Woman found murdered in Tsakane

Tsakane - Last Friday, Duduzile Mkwanazi (32) was murdered and dumped on an open stand in Tsakane.

According to the victim’s brother, Lucky Mkwanazi (47), his sister was visiting their parents’ home in Geluksdal and left the house at around 8pm.

Her parents and siblings were surprised when her husband called to say that she had not arrived home.

Lucky and the victim’s husband rushed to the Tsakane Police Station and a case of hijacking was opened, since they could no longer reach her on her cellphone.

According to Lucky, Duduzile’s vehicle was spotted by a patrolling police van near the open stand where her body would later be found.

Police suspected that the vehicle had been stolen and Lucky confirmed to them that it belonged to his sister.

The following morning, the Saturday, Lucky wanted more clues that would lead the police to the hijackers, so he went back to the crime scene with two family members.

“I needed answers and I really thought going back to the crime scene would help to answer some questions,” he says.

To his dismay, returning to the scene confirmed the one thing he did not want to believe, that his sister was dead.

Lucky found her body metres from where the vehicle had been retrieved the previous night.

Capt Petros Mabuza, of the Tsakane Police Station, says a case of kidnapping and murder has been opened and an investigation has been launched to find the perpetrators.
