Springs commuters not affected by violence in Mamelodi

Springs - Commuters in Springs were not affected by the violence that erupted last week in Mamelodi, Pretoria.

Hundreds of bus commuters were left stranded after taxi operators stopped the Autopax buses at the Mamelodi depot.

Taxi operators claimed they had an agreement with the City of Tswhane which would enable them to take over the subsidised routes.

Bus commuters in Springs, however, did not experience the challenge of having no transport to and from work.

A Putco bus near the Springs Station Taxi Rank was seen waiting to transport passengers to Nkangala as usual.

Commuter Sibongile Nhlapho (52) confirms there were no problems with the local bus services.

The disruptions in Mamelodi escalated last Friday when one person was seriously wounded and four others sustained minor injuries after an unknown assailant shot at a Putco bus.
