Little girl’s rapist sentenced to 12 years imprisonment

KwaThema - Convicted rapist Petros Mdamara Mathebula (57) will spend the next 12 years in prison.

Mathebula was sentenced in the Springs Regional Court on Monday after he was found guilty of raping an eight-year-old girl from KwaThema in 2013.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the incident took place in an outside toilet along Zamani Street.

The little girl was dragged into the toilet cubicle and raped.

She was later found by a neighbour, who called police to the scene.

In addition to the 12 years imprisonment, Mathebula was declared unfit to work with children or possess a firearm, and his name will be listed on the National Register for Sex Offenders.
