Hijackers open fire on resident

Bakerton – Shots were fired at a Bakerton resident during a hijacking last week.

The incident took place at around 7pm in Third Street last Wednesday.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the victim was leaving his house to go to church when he was approached by three armed men inside his yard.

He says two of the hijackers jumped inside the victim’s silver grey Toyota Corolla and demanded the car keys from him.

Three shots were fired and the victim ran for his life.

Ramphora explains the third hijacker then jumped inside the car and drove off.

Police are investigating a case of car hijacking.
