Programme aimed at keeping children safe

Tsakane - To keep children safe during these winter school holidays, Tsakane Love Life hosts a school holiday programme.

The programme started on Monday, at the Chicago Park in Tsakane, and will end on July 21.

According to Mxolisi Zwane, from Love Life, more than 50 children between the ages of two and 13 years attend the programme from 10am until 3pm, since it started.

He says the programme is aimed at ensuring that parents do not worry about the safety of their children while they are at work.

Zwane adds that the programme also helps children to build new relationships with children of their age who go to different schools.

“It is not only about children playing soccer, netball and on jumping castles, but the programme is also aimed at ensuring that they share knowledge concerning their studies,” he says.

The children also have the opportunity to ask questions and seek assistance related to their studies from the members of Love Life.

Zwane says the programme is also aimed at ensuring that children don’t play on the streets where their lives are in danger.

“There are motorists who speed, even when driving in the township, and do not think about the safety of children who play next to the roads,” he explains.

Ntokozo Mahlangu (6) says he enjoys spending the day at the park because, to him, school holidays are a perfect time to play with his friends.

“I thank the organisers of the programme, as they brought everything that I need to play with my friends and I also enjoy spending time with children who live a few kilometres from my home,” says excited Ntokozo.

He appeals to Love life to conduct the programme again, during the next school holidays.
