Langaville residents are disappointed

Langaville - The new electricity contract at Langaviille is alleged to be benefiting residents from other townships, through employment.

One resident from Langaville Extension Six, Jerry Mkhwanazi (32), says he has been struggling to find a job in the last five years.

When the contract to install electricity in Langaville came about he was very happy, as it should meant the locals would also be employed.

However, he alleges, the people who are employed are from sections far way from Langaville, in Kwatsaduza.

Mkhwanazi says it is unfair for locals not to be considered for employment.

Ward 81’s Clr Mtumeleni Nditha insists that the allegations are not true, because 22 residents from Langaville were employed on the contract.

Nditha adds that contractors from the other townships who have been employed provide skilled labour that cannot be replaced.

“I am currently waiting for a report on the breakdown of the labourers who were employed by the contractor,” he concludes.
