Talented artist communicates through his music

Meshack Khulwana (25) from KwaThema says he talks to the youth through his hip hop music.

He was born in KwaThema’s White City Section and is now an up-and-coming hip hop artist.

Meshack attended Thembalika Zulu Primary School before moving to Nkumbulo Comprehensive School, where he completed Grade 12 in 2009.

He says he realised his love for hip hop music after he completed matric.

Meshack says what he loves about his music is that it allows him to pass the message of ‘no to drugs and crime’ to the youth.

“I am not a good speaker, I prefer to communicate with the young people through my music,” he says.

To ensure that he climbs to the top in the music industry and make himself known, Meshack performs at different local talent exposure events.

Talking about the challenges he comes across in the industry, Meshack says, despite having written 57 songs, he is yet to secure a recording deal.

“It is not easy to get recognition,” he says.

Even though the road to success is not an easy one, Meshack refuses to stop dreaming of becoming one of the most loved and influential hip hop music artists in the country.

Meshack encourages other young people to keep on dreaming and to push hard until the doors to their brighter future opens.

To see Meshack perform live, make your way to the Cookout Session, which will be held on Sunday at Bulithando Park, in KwaThema.
