Blocked storm water drain fixed
KwaThema - The storm water drain at the corner of Mampe and Kataza Streets, White City Section, was being repaired by municipal workers on Monday, after it was blocked for months on end.
Resident Thoko Madonsela says the drain had been blocked since early this year and was causing floods in Kataza and Mampe streets after heavy rains.
She says she is very pleased that the drain is being fixed, as the water would sometimes be dammed up in residents’ yards.
Ward 78’s Clr Ivy Nkosi says she had a meeting with residents of the area when the matter of the drain was raised and reported the matter to the relevant department.
Nkosi added that the drain was blocked for months on end and caused floods in the area during heavy rains.
In conclusion, she says she hopes the drain will be fixed permanently for the coming spring.
