CPF say no to crime and xenophobia

KwaThema - The KwaThema Sector Five Community Policing Forum (CPF) held a fun walk last Tuesday from Morabe Street to the Legacy Grounds in September Street.

The walk was aimed at discouraging crime and xenophobic attacks in the community.

Corea Shabangu (67), the coordinator of the event, explained the importance of community members working together to fight crime.

“Crime has to be fought by every resident around ward 77, and we need to assist the SAPS in order to stop crime increasing,” says Shabangu.

Councillor for ward 77, Wilson Busakwe, also took part in the fun walk and expressed his gratitude to all the people who supported this good cause.

“This is the start of many fun walks that will raise awareness about the issues we face in our community,” says Busakwe.

Resident Nomasontho Ndaba (38) says the marches are a good idea as they raise awareness about issues that are of importance to the community.

“Youth day should be commemorated with events that educate the public,” says Ndaba.

The fun walk ended with a soccer match between local residents and foreign nationals.
