Motivational fun walk for street children

Build Yourself for Greatness (BYG) held a fun walk from the University of Johannesburg's Doornfontein Campus to Metro Park on Saturday.

Chairperson of the organisation, Sisanda Nggwala, says the aim of the fun walk was to interact with people and children living on the streets who originate from townships like Kwatsaduza.

Nggwala adds blankets were donated to some of the homeless.

She says the organisation decided to give back to the community because winter is approaching.

“They also need love and support from those who are more privileged than them” she says.

Motivational speaker from KwaThema, Tshepo Mmolawa, encouraged the street children to not give up on life and keep persevering, and to also stay away from crime.

Mmolawa says the children could earn a living through environmentally-friendly initiatives, such as recycling.
