New rehab centre brings hope

Tsakane - The Tsakane Youth Development Programme (TYDP) applauds the government's commitment to fighting drug abuse.

This follows the official opening of a new Local organisation raise funds to fight drug use at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, last Friday, by the Gauteng Department of Social Development.

According to the department’s spokesman, Thebe Mohatle, the centre will cater for addicts over the age of 18 years.

He adds the facility will administer inpatient treatment services, after-care services and referral to outpatient clinics and community based services.

“Services include detoxification and comprehensive treatment interventions,” says Mohatle.

Busi Maseko,Local organisation raise funds to fight drug use public relations officer says the newly opened centre will bring hope to addicts who need help.

“We have about 100Recovering drug addicts get motivationbetween the ages of 18 and 35 who are on our waiting list to be taken to a rehabilitation centre,” says Maseko.

The local organisation helps fight the scourge of drug abuse in Kwatsaduza.

Maseko says the organisation is happy that the government is getting involved in the fight against drugs, and appealed to parents to also become involved.
