Petrol attendants arrested for theft

KwaThema - Police arrested two petrol attendants for theft last Wednesday.

The petrol attendants, aged 38 and 40, were nabbed after a customer at the petrol station in Nkosi Street alleged that cash was withdrawn from his bank account.

Police spokesman Capt Mandla Phori says the 30-year-old customer stopped at the petrol station to fill up and paid with a debit card.

He later noticed the wrong card had been returned to him.

“An undisclosed amount of cash was later withdrawn from the bank account, and the card was allegedly still in the possession of a petrol attendant,” says Phori.

He explains police suspect the two attendants were working together to rob the victim.

The card was returned to the customer at about 8pm, and the pair were arrested.

They will appear in the KwaThema Magistrates Court soon.
